Project

Association and House Management

NaturFreundeHaus Hirzwald is a place of remembrance and obligation for the future. It was built by the NaturFreunde local group Schwenningen in the 1920s and served in the early years of National Socialism until expropriation as a depot for distributing leaflets and as a waystation on the way to Switzerland. After the war, the necessary renovation was largely financed by the compensation for the imprisonment in concentration camps of Ludwig Becker, a member of the Württemberg state parliament and deputy mayor of Schwenningen. This history inspires us to use this place accordingly in his memory. NaturFreundeHaus Hirzwald is a venue for its own events as well as those in cooperation with other non-profit organisations — events, seminars, workshops, children's and youth environmental activities.

Two to three people live on site and take care of the house and grounds.

Project

Place for Regenerative Activism (BeO)

Since early 2024, a group of 20 young people has been connected with the house and association, developing workshops and activities on the topics of "regenerative engagement", "nature connection" and "stress management". The aim is to develop inclusive, low-barrier offers for young people and young adults that promote social and ecological engagement and connectedness, and show young people ways to new strength and hope through different methods and formats.
